Persepolis 2: The Story of a Return by Marjane Satrapi
3.0
This volume picks up where the first volume of Persepolis drops off and chronicles Marjane's teenage years in Austria, her return to Iran, and ends with her eventual decision to leave Iran for France. Much like the first volume, I enjoy the simplicity of Satrapi's artwork, and the way she uses the medium to express complex ideas and history. My only issue is that I felt quite disconnected from Marjane - for some reason, even though I know it's all true, I couldn't really believe all that she went through, both in Vienna and in Tehran. It could also be that I just didn't care, for whatever reason.
