Heartless Monster by Rachel Leigh

5.0

It’s been quite some time since I’ve read a true bully romance, one in which the reasons behind the aggression and hard feelings felt by the MMC are completely reasonable or justifiable to the reader.

Rome is a fantastic mmc, he has so many interesting layers and I really enjoyed peeling them away one by one.
Elodie is a typical first-born/ type-A/perfectionist, control freak, who eventually learns to let her hair down, but was also relatable to those of us with her very specific brand of uptight and strategic way of living.
I found her likable, and loved that she never backed down to Rome, yet still maintained a level of empathy which allowed her to gain his trust and heart by the end of the story.
It was a relief that their relationship wasn’t viewed as taboo when it came to their immediate family members, and I appreciated it differed in that sense from other books in this genre, giving it a level of uniqueness.
All of the characters were interesting as individuals, and their family dynamic was special.
I laughed, had emotional moments, and enjoyed the level of suspense and mystery the story offered, as this was a great secondary plot.
I highly recommend this book and look forward to any others in this world.
