This was a tough read because of the setting. But what a great story. The theme of female friendship and the power of it left me feeling empowered rather than defeated even though the novel also put on display the harsh truth that is the recent history of women’s rights in Iran. A cautionary tale that is definitely worth a read.
Graphic: Sexism, Religious bigotry
Moderate: Infertility
Minor: Rape
