Hmm. I have mixed feelings on this to be honest.
Did I like the story? Yes.
Was the plot interesting? Yes.
The characters? not so much. Margaret’s personality was very placid. I didn’t care for her way of thinking. She was bland. She did go through a lot of trauma and that may play into that but I dunno, it was hard to stay engaged.
Her daughter kind of made me want to pull my hair out at times. Ha, she was not my cup of tea.
Some of the time the story was hard to follow, it seemed scattered. One minute it’s in the present but then all of a sudden she’s talking about the past and I got confused a few times to where I had to re-read it.
I did enjoy the idea of the book itself though. It wasn’t such a typical “haunted house” story, the interactions with the ghosts were very different and trying to find her missing husband along the way pushed the story along.
Overall, I did like it, but it was a slow read for me.
