Jane Steele by Lyndsay Faye

This was a very slow start for me. So much so that I had to put it down for like 2 weeks and then started up again and fell more and more in love as the pages went on.

Jane! She is unreal and funny and smart and I literally gasped out loud so many times. I really didn’t think I would like this based on the beginning but that’s how it kept me reading. It would be slow and mundane and then almost out of nowhere Jane would do something completely unexpected and I’d cream and what to read more.

The ending at Highgate House I loveeeed and cried! And ugh. Clark at the tea house?! Ugh. So many tears. The situations with the Sikhs and the sweet Sahjara and her parents, the treasure! It was such great story telling.

I noted down so many quotes from this book and I really enjoyed it. Jane is an amazing character and the little excerpts from Jane Eyre were a nice touch. This was a great read.

The beginning gave me Harry Potters vibes… maybe just the school aspect. But the third section was so beautiful and hilarious that I couldn’t put it down. The mystery, the deceit, the family drama?! So good! If you liked Jane Eyre (even if you didn’t) read this !
