Invandrarna by Vilhelm Moberg, Gustaf Lannestock

5.0

The lättläst (easy read) version of a Swedish classic - second in a series by Vilhelm Moberg. I had already read the English translation of the first book, The Emigrants, when this was assigned as homework in Swedish class. After finishing the novel, we watched the 2021 remake of Utvandrarna, which covered all four books in the series. As documented in my book report afterward, the similarities between Moberg's story and that of my own family's immigration were striking. A fictional novel, but based on the real experiences of Swedish emigrants at the turn of the century.
