An Offer From a Gentleman by Julia Quinn

5.0

These books are light, quick, and fun with a nod-to Regency era (historical accuracy be damned). A fan of the big, classic romantic comedies with happy endings, I usually re-read Jane Austen and watch a lot of TV. Having devoured everything good on Netflix, et al in 2020, including the just-dropped Bridgerton, I picked up the novels at The Viscount who Loved Me (Bridgerton #2) and have devoured them. The series hits the perfect note for me in this moment--relaxing, distracting delight. Admittedly, I've needed to skip over the sap in the last few pages of these books--too sticky, but overall these are lovely and suit my tastes.

This book is a Cinderella story, and I *love* a Cinderella story. The novel moves you through the whole expected storyline from evil step mom beginnings
Spoiler to redemption
. I loved this book and couldn't put it down. Benedict's and Sophie's relationship was charming. I also finished this one in a day.
