The best thing I can say about this book is that it was entertaining despite all its problems. I don’t know that I would have stuck with it were the series not already so popular by the time I read it, so I was curious about what everyone else had enjoyed so much. It’s poorly written with heavy-handed language substituting for actual emotional intensity and tired tropes substituting for world building. Character growth happens at unbelievably abrupt moments. And worst of all, the romance that the entire plot hinges on is not believable!
