I read everyday but I don’t often enjoy it. So when I need something to redeem my faith in books, I naturally pick up a Katherine Centre book.
Her books are lighthearted in the best way and they’re just the right amount of cringe.
They’re guaranteed to make me smile and that’s what I love in a book.
Her writing style is humorous, easy to read, as well as relatable,
Even if I don’t love the main character, Katherine Center has a way of putting me into their shoes: when they feel rejected, I feel it too; when they feel jealous, so do I; when they’re happy, I am too.
And despite the title, I didn’t actually expect the book to teach me anything on happiness but somehow it did! I love the “appreciate three good things” technique and hope to implement it into my own life.
Three good things about this book are:
-The font (I really liked it).
-Windy - I loved her.
-Beckett, although I did hate him at the beginning.
It’s clear that KC researches topics in her books because I usually seem to end up learning something :)
This wasn’t my favourite KC book, probably because I wasn’t rooting for Helen and Jake to be together at all? I wanted him to get with Windy lol. And as a hopeless romantic, it’s rare that I don’t love the romance in a book. Nevertheless , I mostly enjoyed reading this!
TL;DR More enjoyable than most books I read, but not the best KC book. The side characters > Helen and Jake.
Moderate: Child death
Minor: Suicide attempt, Injury/Injury detail
