Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

5.0

Nobody is surprised that I’m a sucker for a book about a rock band. I devoured this story the way you plow through every track of a great new album without stopping or skipping a single song.

There are a handful of lines in the book that struck me in the way of lines in a great song: “l think you have to have faith in people before they earn it. Otherwise it’s not faith, right?” And “for everybody hung up on somebody or something.” And “also, yeah, I’ll be on the bus with tits painted on the window, thanks.”

This is a book where I liked the supporting characters better than the main ones, where the plot moved fast and kept me turning pages, and where every word felt like it was written by someone who loved music and concerts and bands the same way I do. Just like the Six’s album Aurora, this book has smash hit written all over it, and it delivers all the way to the end.
