The Deep Sky by Yume Kitasei

This was a slog. I don't know if it was my fault for starting this book right as the spring semester was ending and I wasn't listening to audiobooks as much due to my lack of commute for a few weeks, or if it was the fault of the audiobook narrator (annoying), or if it was the fault of the book. Whatever the case, I did not enjoy this book much. I had such high hopes. Deep space travel, climate change fiction, mother-daughter relationships, asian representation, the list goes on. But this was boring. The audiobook narrator's voice was annoying, and all the characters, aside from the protagonist, were indistinguishable. And there were too many other characters. If they had personalities I wouldn't mind, but nope. All one note. The book seemed to go on for ever and ever. By the time I got to the "big reveal" of the mystery saboteur, I did not care. I just wanted to be done.

Such a shame. But that cover art is gorgeous.
