Society of Lies by Lauren Ling Brown

I didn’t vibe with this one. I thought the first half had way too much exposition and I couldn’t really get into the characters. When the action started happening in the second half, I wasn’t connected to the characters enough to keep up and feel invested in the twists and turns. The time jumps confused me, as did both sisters group of friends. Maybe it isn’t meant to be a summer beach read? What I enjoyed about this book was Maya’s effort to protect her sister, and their real and human bond (or lack thereof). I also enjoyed exploring the idea of fate playing out with Naomi.
