The Gray Man by Mark Greaney

3.0

Update 2022: looking back at my original 2017 review, this was my first spy novel and I was just getting into reading books with any regularity. I was favorable with a 4-star review.

Now, some 2,000 books and 5 years later, I couldn’t finish the book. I gave up around chapter 15. It’s mostly action (constant fast-paced action) and requires so much suspension of belief, which I suppose is the hallmark of this genre. It’s a guys book in a lot of ways. There’s not a lot of plot or twists. Just enough thread to keep the action going.

I wanted to read this again before the new Netflix adaption (that I know my husband will want to watch) but couldn’t press on. That means 2-stars. I’ll settle on 3 to be fair. I noticed I gave book #2 a 1-star back in the day, so maybe I learned sly novels aren’t my genre
