The characters face seemingly insurmountable challenges and twists and turns abound.
Also, I don’t know if it is all of the drama and angst or what, but the writing levels up in this novel. There is still plenty of banter but there are also occasional moments of lyricism in the writing.
The spicy scenes also level up. 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ And we start to see the seeds of a queer pairing.
The plot takes a turn such that it intersects with a third series, which is fun.
And as is becoming trademark for this series, the book ends in a dark cliffhanger.
