King of Sloth by Ana Huang

4.5

The way I was soooo excited the second it was announced that not only a Latinx man but a Colombian one would become the MMC for one of my favorite authors I lost my shit!!! Colombians don’t get much Rep and when we do it’s usually not in a good light, but Ana Huang managed to make Xavier such a likable and well rounded character that didn’t fall into any of the gross Hollywood stereotypes of both Latinx and Colombian men.

His chemistry with sloane was through the roof and the spice was spicing!!! I had a different idea of how this dynamic would pan out but I’m glad I was wrong because this banter between a golden retriever and a black cat was soooo much better!

Sloane’s personal story was also really good and showed a lot of insight into who she is, and the growth arc both characters had was so well done.

As always: I’m obsessed.
