Based on how the book started, I honestly thought this would be a five star read. The first sentence is “When the shoe fell into her lap the foot was still in it”. WHAT?!?!? The entire first chapter is so graphic and detailed and set an amazing scene for how I thought the book would play out.
But I think how good that first chapter was made the rest of the book underwhelming. The characters were cliche, every moment of the entire scenario was predictable, and when the action started picking up at the end, it got so ridiculous I started laughing (at one point, there’s a scene that’s even reminiscent of the musicians deciding to continue playing as the boat sunk
