I don't normally read a book by recommendation when I didn't even know the genre but I guess I was bored and had an audible credit (very dangerous scenario tbh). I wasn't expecting a very dark satire of monster lover books. I honestly haven't read any monster lover books so I wasn't sure it was a real satire but nothing about this was sexy, and I am pretty sure on purpose. I would describe this book as female Bojack Horseman without the fame. It is very much about the main characters depression and from a very real perspective on it. they kill the damn dog though and honestly I hate that damn trope. To the point where I wonder why people write dogs in at all other than to get a cheap cry out of someone. It is honestly the laziest plot device and it doesn't change in this book either.
