General Fiction is not my jam(I kind of avoid it at all costs😆), but I have to say I am glad I read The Wedding People. If I had to comp this book, I would say it is closest to the movie While You Were Sleeping, but with darker themes. Phoebe is lonely and not in a great mental state. She books a hotel and finds that everyone is else at the hotel are there for a wedding. The main character Phoebe, ends up enmeshed with the wedding party and a pretty interesting story unfolds. The first quarter of the book made me say,”Well, dang, that’s pretty bleak.” Then the book ends up oddly found-family-ish and has plot beats of a rom-com, sort of? (Hence the While You Were Sleeping reference). Will I pick up another book by this author? Probably not. See above statement about General Fiction. 🤪 But would I recommend it to anyone I know? Absolutely. Does any of this make sense? Nope. I don’t care.
