This is more like a book between 4.25-4.5. HOWEVER, the ending just hit me like a wrecking ball and I found this book just so overall good. And the message??? Yup.
The setting of this book is quite realistic, especially for a horror book (at least to me). Muriel has lived in this little coastal scottish town all of her life. However, there's this company that wants to give her money so she can move and build, is it a golf course (?) in it's place?
Of course, she won't let go of her house. This same house her husband built with his bare hands. As of this present time Muriel is an elderly lady and her husband died quite some years ago, so she is all on her own.
Here we then have this creature that shows up on the beach during a very foggy time.
I absolutely loved Muriel and this creature's relationship.he can transform itself into a person if he eats people which is very macabre. However, when Muriel discovers he can turn into her dead husband, she risks alot to make that happen, even if it's for the very last time
I had a blast with this story. Hoping to read more from this author at some point?
