I can't believe I finally finished reading this 1500++ pages of book after starting this in 2022 and put in on hold for over a year to finally pick it up again recently.
The reason why I put it on hold is because... It was too much for me. The heavy themed of war and imperialism, of deceit and dirty politics, and so many blood and merciless kills...... It was too much. I was only half way through reading it when I put it on hold.
But then, idk why this year I decided to pick it up again and I was glad the rest of it is not as bad as the first half. Well, the politic bits and the military strategies is still confusing as fuck but the sapphic romance plot line was evolving like mad and I finally can enjoy the wonderfulness of Ah-Yue, the female general and Xian-er, the eldest princess. They're just so....... devoted to each other!!! I'm screaming!!!
I still can't give this a more than 3 stars though, despite the brilliance of the sapphic couple. It's because the politic and war bits are just not for me. It made my head hurts.
