This was so good! I loved everything about this book, the sizzling friends to lovers was TOO GOOD!
I'm talking like they were made for each other; opposites attract in the way that they complement their flaws and abilities! Like these 2 have chemistry that is so obviously felt from across the room. I truly feel like this book could be made into a film and it would eat up!!
I enjoyed how both Kiki and Malakai grew together, given that they're sophomores in college it's obvious that there still a lot for them to learn but they both are so incredibly smart.
Kiki is a complex fmc, and if you guys remember... I LOVEEEEE BIPOC Complex FMC's. Kiki is a great character, but it's acknowledged that she still has personal things to work on. I am so glad that this book didn't focus only on her insecurities but highlighted her power as a Black woman!!
Kiki hosts her own radio show and is known to be the most popular throughout the entire campus. and she's applying to a full grant for a cross-media summer program?! She also pitched FreakyFridayz (Fuck Zack btw). I'm in complete awe of her talents
Malakai is the new kid, so he has the mysterious aura to him but he's fr a gentle giant. Yes, I acknowledge that he did fumble a couple times tho. but given their ages, this was bound to happen. He has charm and he's understanding. ALSO HE TAKES HER TO HER ANTICIPATED BOOK CONVENTION AND DRESSES UP WITH HER!!!!!!!!!!!
His love for film is so visible, and towards the end I love how the film was incorporated to the ending *Crying in single. *
This book has a university setting and the characters are around their 20's, which means pop culture is a HUGE part of the book. For some people that's cool and for others that's not.
Overall, I definitely encourage everyone to read this because it's as good as you have heard it is!!
I hope Bolu releases more of her work because I'm tuning in!
