challenging dark informative sad tense fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: No

I enjoyed the story and thought the narrator was excellent. I was surprised at the end to learn it is based on a true story. The book is fast-paced covering a few years quickly. At times it felt like some of the horrors were glossed over and the concentration camp was almost romanticized. However, I also think it showed that love and human connection can get people through the darkest times.
