This books is a great mix of historical events and fantastical characters. The dichotomy between Shen Qiao and Yan Wushi is so interesting as it evolves, especially as we see Shen Qiao re-evaluating is isolationist views of the world. Meng Xi Shi writes both comically and beautifully given the circumstances. I can't wait to start volume 2!
