Constellation of the Deep by Benjamin Flouw

adventurous informative lighthearted fast-paced

4.0

A fox that goes scuba diving? Beautiful illustrations of the wonders of the ocean? Constellation of the Deep by Benjamin Flouw was such a fun and enchanting read. Thank you to Penguin Random House Canada for the gifted copy of the book.

Fox and his cousin, Wolf, are on a walk when they run into a seagull who lets them know about an amazing plant called the constellation of the deep. It is said that it grows on the bottom of the ocean and that it glows in the dark. Intrigued by this, Fox heads down into the ocean in search of this plant and discovers many amazing plants along the way. Will he be able to find the constellation of the deep?

I really enjoyed the story and the illustrations in Constellation of the Deep. While it is a fictional story, there are also non-fiction elements as the story also itemizes the things Fox needs for his adventure, the different types of coral and seaweed - making it more informative and fun at the same time. This is a wonderful read that young readers will enjoy and perhaps even be inspired to learn more about the wonders of the ocean.
