This book is like if you combined Rogue One and A New Hope but then also combined it with the grandeur of the High Republic and the expansive-ness of the prequels and sequels. This book was incredible. It felt a little long at times and there's definitely enough going on that it was easy to get confused, but the characters at the heart of the story (and the story itself!) were incredibly compelling.
I came into this book fresh off the high of Phase 2 and feeling more than a little jaded that I wouldn't be seeing any of my favorites here like Marda, Silandra, or Gella. By the end of the book, I had at least 3 new favorite characters, a new ship, and so much excitement over the little snippets of character cameos from the rest of Phase 1 (Stellan, Vernestra, and Reath to name a few). As a massive fan of Marda Ro myself, let me just say that Marchion Ro is every bit as compelling for both the same and for different reasons and I am so incredibly eager to learn more about him.
