This was such a wild ride right at the end of what was shaping up to be a very low-rated book. Enough so that I’ve bumped it up to a lower mid-rated book. The majority was standard romantasy fare with a dark twist that left me feeling a little bored most of the time. There’s only so many times I can stomach repetitive antagonistic banter before I want something else to happen. But the absolute shitstorm at the end was genuinely entertaining, if a bit too convoluted. I did predict the reveal about Grey and most of the plot points in the climax but I’m not convinced the author knew what she wanted to do when she got to the end.
The magic could've been more interesting. I liked what we got to see of Willow’s plant magic but we didn’t get to see much else.
I probably will read the second book but I don’t have very high hopes.
