This Time Next Year by Sophie Cousens

4.0

Minnie Copper's life would have been very different and easier if she was named Quinn but the woman who was giving birth next to her mother stole the name and her good luck. Her birthday is when her bad luck reaches a new level and she does anything she can to avoid it, but this year she can't avoid going out and this is how she finally meets the man that stole her name and shares her birthday.

The story is being told in different timelines, going back and forth between the past and the present. I liked how we got Quinn's pov in the past timeline.

Quinn's life seems perfect from the outside but looks can be deceiving, he has his own demons to fight that make his life difficult.

The story had a very serendipitous feeling and it gave me many soulmate vibes, they were meant to be, but first they had to overcome personal obstacles in order to be together.

The romance isn't the center of the story but the personal growth for both characters is. It shows how they had to be the best version of themselves before they could be in relationship.

I really enjoyed that we saw their mothers' in the story and that the name stealing was explained and a connection was formed between the two women.

The characters were flawed but written beautifully and realistically.

One thing I didn't like was how they were both in a relationship when they first met and how Quin was dating other girls even though those were superficial relationships but I can understand why it was written like that.
