When a mandatory vaccine is distributed to the world, a very grim outcome takes place.
Zombie's stories tend to follow a similar chain of events, and the danger grows with each new page. This book is no different, but what makes it stand out is the first half of the story. Because we see the outbreak in a school, and the first victims are little children. This is what made the book for me. The utter despair the adults experienced when trying to protect 30 boys and girls from a gruesome death. The chilling scenes of nine-year-olds overpowering and murdering their teachers. I couldn't stop reading. It's brutal, honest, and gripping.
After that, the book follows the traditional path of zombie stories, and we see a group of survivors who face the challenges of leadership, death, and isolation. The biggest question arises; should we be afraid of monsters, or are humans even worse?
For a debut novel, this is very promising. I do wish the punishment for those responsible for the deadly vaccine had been harsher.
