Mud Vein
by Tarryn Fisher
Just some brief thoughts on this book. The thing that saved this book from being a DNF was the plot - 1000%. I thought the story was compelling the characters were intriguing. I loved the twist! I wasn’t expecting it and that’s always a bonus with me. Don’t go into this book expecting detailed smut - it’s not there. That’s not necessarily a down side for me, but thought I’d be upfront with that in my review. Is the book realistic? No, not really. But that didn’t bother me either.
I have to be honest, what made me almost DNF the book was the writing style. The best way to describe it, for me, was like being in a car with a driver who slams on their brakes too hard and too frequently. The sentences were short and abrupt with not a lot in between them. If that’s something you can look past and want an unconventional story with a compelling plot, then this story might be for you.
