The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind: Creating Currents of Electricity and Hope
by William Kamkwamba
I can't say enough good about this autobiography of a boy who figured out how to generate electricity in Malawi using a windmill he made from garbage. It's like Angela's Ashes, but in Africa. The chapters on famine are a solid reminder of how good we have it in the U.S. despite the recession. And it's just a good tale of how determination and a library can make anyone succeed.
