A Novel Christmas by Charity Shane'

2.0

This book started off so promising. A cute little holiday romance with unexpected love during a whirlwind week… but it got clunky, repetitive, and had the nerve for the tension point to be “I’ve only known this man for a week and how dare he not expose all of his business to me including the house he shared with his late wife”?! Like really?! That’s why we mad?! I can think of at least three alternative directions the author could’ve taken this would’ve flowed so much better. Also, there were things mentioned and just dropped that makes me question what was the point of emphasizing it if we weren’t going to circle back to it. For example, him ordering and reading one of her books was continuously emphasized early on in the book. The last thing we read about that was he made it to chapter six and then it was just dropped. As simple as that seems, that was a missed opportunity of connection within the book had he finished and there was a scene with them discussing it. Overall, I just couldn’t get over the repetition and the way the storyline just fell flat.
