Haven't read a book this fast in a long time. An intriguing, emotional, touching book, at times funny and heartwarming. A highly character driven story of recovery from loneliness and trauma and discovery of self. I enjoyed the way the plot unravelled, dropping teasers and hints and still left a surprise for the end that for once, I didn't see coming. The relationship development between Eleanor and Raymond was exquisite. (Spoiler) As it approached the end I was waiting cynically for something bad to happen to her, someone who had experienced so much trauma to have something further taken away, and it didn't, and I'm glad it didn't. A feel good, comforting, end. I am normally a fantasy reader and don't know where to start with fiction, but would strongly recommend this, although note content warnings.
