As a “curvy girl” who has PCOS, maybe this just hit a nerve for me, but I hate that being fat is so shameful. The whole book the main character talked about her weight like it made her a bad person. Why does our weight have to be connected with our moral goodness. The quarterback was the only person in this whole book that did not care about her weight at all. He was kind and lovely to her, and she is the one who treated him a certain way because of his body. I think it’s great to have representation for curvy girls and have them get the hot guy, but the self hatred and complete surprise that an attractive guy would even talk to a fat girl is a little much for me.
