The Mysterious Affair at Styles
by Agatha Christie
TLDR: It is good, if you like mystery or Agatha Christie I would give it a read.
Longer Review: The book is good, but I don't think it is her best work. I read it because online I had read that this was her first published story with Hercule Poirot so I wanted to read it. I think Murder on the Orient Express or Murder of Roger Ackroyd are better, but I did enjoy it. There was really only 2 quotes that stood out to me, both mostly as funny.
"Ah, I am glad she has come. There is a woman with a head and a heart too, Hastings. Though the good God gave her no beauty!"
Second comes in a conversation between Hastings and Poirot.
"'But why should he shield her?'
'Because he is in love with her.'
I laughed.
'There, Poirot, you are quite wrong! I happen to know for a fact that, far from being in love with her, he positively dislikes her.'
'Who told you that, mon ami?'
'Cynthia herself.'
'La pauvre petite! And she was concerned?'
'She said that she did not mind at all.'
'Then she certainly did mind very much,' remarked Poirot. 'They are like that-les femmes!'"
