The magic is mesmerizing in the way it’s another mystery within the mystery. When it’s first introduced, it explains itself in a way that is both unique and easy to understand, but then as you go through Edwin’s head as he ponders and researches magic you learn along with him, you’ve been shown the surface of what could be an endless well of possibilities.
I don’t want to get into it too much for spoilers sake, but the era and setting play a huge part into the interpretation of magic to the characters and it’s brilliant in so many ways. In the way of writing style, if you’re a reader of fan fiction I feel this will come easy to you and enjoyable. Those who are not however may struggle with the writing. That’s not to say the writing is simple (it’s most definitely not), but that it has a particular voice.
From plot to romance I was enticed through the entire adventure and will continue to root for Edwin and Robin through the rest of the series.
