5 stars! - One of my favorite books of all time!! (re-read September 2024)

I absolutely loved this book upon re-read! Like I'm ready to scream, cry, throw up about how much I loved this re-read! I saved this one for a couple of readathons I had lined up in September! The first one is Mystic Falls readathon which is a Vampire Diaries Readathon and I thought that reading this book for a vampire readathon was the perfect time! The other readathon is the Autumn Academia readathon hosted by the sticker company I buy from (creating and co)!

With the new duology coming out in November I had already planned to re-read the first 2 books! This was the perfect time and the best way to kick off the Fall reading season (with a favorite) I loved the characters and the storyline! I love a book with trials (this one really worked for me I was on the edge of my seat the whole 2 days I read this book! I also highly recommend the audiobooks for this series!

Upon re-read I was also able to catch and pick up on things that were said between characters espically scenes with Vincent and Oraya, and Oraya and Raihn! Everything about this book was top tier in my opinion and I can't wait to continue my re-reads of Six Scorched Roses and Ashes and the Star Cursed King ASAP!!!

5 stars! - Favorite book of the year so far (as of April 2023)

I owe booktube for this find! I've had this book on my tbr since last year after watching a group of Booktubers highly recommend it but I am only getting to it now because of Realmathon hosted by coverswithcassidy! This book is everywhere right now because there are multiple books in the series coming out within a few weeks. But the readathon has definitely helped the hype because it has kind of become the unofficial book of the readathon! This is my first time reading a popular book with other people since Divergent came out and it is so much fun! I cannot wait to continue the series immediately! Also excited to see what book the community recommends next!

This book was like Hunger Games but with vampires! I experienced every emotion possible with this book! It was an emotional rollercoaster that gripped me from the first page. Each trial was better than the last and I loved the background and world building we got in-between each round.

I absolutely loved Oraya she is a badass human living with and sometimes slaying vampires! She held her own in the trials and totally kicked ass! Sometimes she made questionable decisions but I haven't met a perfect main character yet!
Her decision at the end of the final trial sent this book in a direction I wasn't expecting at all! I wish we got more background on what happened between the clans in the past because that ending threw me for a loop!

Raihn there is so much I want to say- who the heck are you really and what the fuck have you done! I loved Raihn throughout this book I thought he brought out the best in Oraya by training her and helping her both mentally and physically. He was absolutely perfect until < spoiler >that decision at the end which made me question everything I know about his character and where his loyalties lie.

I wish I could discuss everything that happens but this is a review so if anyone wants to have a discussion on this one I am totally happy to do so! There is certain characters and motives I would love to discuss and I cannot wait to continue the series and see where it goes and what happens next! I am officially obsessed with this book!
