I'm curious to see where the rest of this goes,. I don't care very much for the characters aside from Genya and Baghra, who don't seem like they'll be playing a big part in the rest of the story. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with the characters, there's just nothing noteworthy. Mal gets better throughout the book, which doesn't say much because I wasn't a big fan of his to begin with,,, the Darkling is kinda interesting, and Alina is Consistently the same level of fine. Shadow and bone is at it's best when things are happening quickly, (Alina on the run, tracking the Stag, and the ending) . The Beginning parts are fine, they just didn't do much to capture my attention (I liked Alina's interactions with Genya, Baghra and Botkins)

Shadow and Bone is perfectly readable
