Feeling Blah by Tanith Carey

adventurous informative inspiring reflective medium-paced

5.0

Honestly? This is a book I can relate too and it was utterly fascinating to read essentially someone's research on the topic.

I have a personal interest in psychology therefore the history of the psychology behind being blah was enthralling.

First up - who knew that the technical term for feeling blah is anhedonia? There is an actual name!

What I found to be very moving was the formatting. The book is broken up into manageable sections ( 3 parts, broken down into sections for key ideas) each obviously titled and just above the title is a small quote from actual people on the subject of blah - very moving!

This is a really lovely touch.

I really enjoyed the tone of this book. I have a love/hate relationship with self-help books as it is usually the tone that puts me off. Usually, the tone is quite condescending, but Tanith's tone is lovely.

Tanith's tone is very matter-of-fact when it needs to be caring and considerate when 'talking' to you or making you as the reader consider things. There is no negativity there and is friendly and approachable - perfect!

I suppose it helps that this book is 90% science and 10% hints and tips, so the science really backs up what is being said, which I loved!

Any utterly brilliant book that gripped my attention! Highly recommend!
