One small joke changes the entire life around. A love story goes wrong and one's life turns into a political saga. The story also depicts the times in post war Czechoslovakia. Reminded me a bit of the time I was there as a child in the early 80's. A bit on the dark side and a bit opressive. All in all a realistic novel with all the things that can happen in life. A good read.
