A continuation of the first book--should not be read as a standalone. Largely lacking in a coherent plot and darker in tone than the first in the series. That said, I found it bizarrely lovable. It says something that I hadn't read this book in probably 20 years and I still remembered The Restaurant at the End of the Universe fondly!
