I read this book as part of my new years effort to read seminal works that I somehow missed in college. For better or worse, I believe that I read this book at the wrong time in my life. Should I have read it during an intensive collegiate program I think I would have taken much better to it. Its points just don't happen to be where I'm at at this moment in time. I'm also not sure that this book is holding up the test of time the way many classics do. I get that it would have been ground breaking at the time it was written. I even get that it would have been ground breaking less than 30 years ago when latent homosexuality might have been mildly new to the discussion of literature.
