The Truth About Keeping Secrets
by Savannah Brown
I really struggled to finish this. The writing felt immature and the pacing wasn’t great. It took about four chapters for anything to actually happen.
I think she had an okay idea and courageously tried to tackle some really difficult issues but unfortunately the execution was underwhelming.
The blurb makes it seem like a thriller which it is not. It’s more of an empty romance.
Suspense was built only for it to be knocked down the way a 2 year old would attack a tower of jenga. There was no unpicking of mysteries or clues left for us to follow. Questions were raised only to be suddenly answered 3/4 of the way in out of the blue. Wasn’t even a shocking or unexpected reveal.
Was going to give this book to charity but I’m actually still within my returns period so might just get my money back instead.
