This is not a romance story so much as a coming of age story. The romance is more a subplot. I went into this thinking it was a rom-com. It is definitely not a rom-com. It's more a multicultural contemporary fiction coming of age story. The writing style is more lyrical and told in Grace's POV. It was repetitive, and it became annoying every time I heard "Grace Porter," a very slow read for me, and it really didn't get interesting until the last 1/3 of the book. This was not for me, but I can see how many would love this story.
