There's a Monster in the Woods by Fae Quin

4.0

THERE'S A MONSTER IN THE WOODS was such a beautiful novella and I loved how poignantly Fae Quin wrote about loneliness and what it means to finally find acceptance and companionship. I loved Ellis and really felt like I could relate to his character -- from his desire to avoid people, to his awkward social skills, to his comfort around animals and nature. Styx is a more mysterious character and without this POV we only learn a little bit about him, but it's obvious that he's also alone like Ellis. Together they make a sweet couple and I liked the slower pace of their ""courtship"". After reading this, I'm really looking forward to reading more by this author.

Content Warning: minor moments of grief over the previous passing of Ellis' aunt and uncle who raised him
