The Beautiful Mystery by Louise Penny

Similar to Eco's [b:The Name of the Rose|119073|The Name of the Rose|Umberto Eco|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1328876320s/119073.jpg|3138328] only in that there is a murder in an isolated monastary. Writing was not as intricate as Eco which can be a good thing and a bad thing depending on what you're into.

I gave this book 3 stars because I didn't love it and didn't hate it. I wouldn't say I was particularly peeled to the pages either. It was very interesting to learn about monastic life and Gregorian chants - things that do not have any relevance to my own daily life but are interesting nonetheless.

Not sure if my opinion would be different if I had read the other books in the series. The characters seemed appealing if I had read the other books so maybe that's what I was missing.
