This is one of those books where if you get it, you get it, and if you don't, you don't. This is not your typical horror story. It is not centered on witchcraft or super natural elemenets. It is about girlhood, friendship, and solidarity. The real horror here was the reality of what a pre-Roe world was like. The way these girls were treated. How they got in this situation. The things they had to endure. Witchcraft was just a way to get through it.

Some thapters were truly horrifying to get through. Mrytle in the bathroom, Fern's time at the hospital, Holly giving birth. However, in the current time we live in, I was glad for the unfiltered, viseral look at the very real experiences generations of women have gone through.

The research done for this book was phenonemal. These girls were real in every sense of the word. Though sometimes frustrating (as all young girls tend to be, myself included) Their motives and reasoning made total sense for each girl's circumstances. Props to Mr. Hendrix for really capuring the essence of young women.
