The Curse that Binds by Laura Thalassa

2.0

Because of how much I love The Bargainer series— and I know what Laura Thalassa is capable of— I continue reading her books hoping to see her replicate that magic once more. Sadly, she has yet to do so. While we do get to see Roxilana and Memnon start as friends, their interactions after meeting-in-person/marrying fall either into 1) sex or 2) midst of a battlefield, squandering all the potential at her fingertips for a truly developed relationship.

Further, there are a number of scenes in this book we’ve already read in the previous book, including the entire ending of this book. This series is my least favorite of all her books, and I am  losing hope she’ll ever write another series like The Bargainer.
