The Black Cat by Edgar Allan Poe

4.0

One of best Poe I have read this far. This one was like 'Tell-tale heart' showing the working of a mind that has grown paranoid, sadist and incapable of thinking properly; all because of excessively drinking (kind of like that guy in 'Shining'). The black cat just happens to be the object that attracts his fear, probably because of mysticism attached to it and what he did to it; but it could have been anything. It is kind of why I like Poe, he can create a Gothic environment without needing ghosts.
