Potential trigger warning for
gender dysphoria

This is a MM romance with a trans main character, which is not disclosed in the book blurb nor is it talked about until it’s “revealed” to the other MC a good chunk of the way through the book. In the author’s note at the end it’s explained why it’s done this way - because trans men are men and this can and should be read as a MM romance. On the one hand I can see how that makes sense but on the other hand the dysphoria that’s discussed could be triggering to someone who stumbled across it not knowing it’s there. I do like the author’s point that if you have a problem with a trans character in a romance, then it’s on the reader to examine why that is. I have mixed feelings about it being used as the potential third act break-up - I can understand how it could be an issue for trans folx when they disclose it but it felt a *bit* like it was being used as a plot point here. Anyway. Mixed feelings both positive and negative about the way this was handled in this book

Cute instalove romance with a pretty contrived maple mixup which is silly but fits with the silliness of this imaginary maple-obsessed town. Firefighters. Kittens.
