Strong Female Character by Fern Brady

challenging dark funny informative fast-paced

5.0

An astounding portrayal of Fern Brady's lived experience as an autistic in an allistic world, highlighting the importance of diagnosis and awareness.

The memoir is also a shocking, yet unfortunately relatable, account of sexism, depression, anxiety, harassment and abuse. Fern also tackles society's inaccurate perception of stripping.

Overall, Strong Female Character is a powerful and important book. I have truly learnt a lot about what it means to be an autistic woman in the modern world. If you or anyone you know is neurodiverse, I can highly recommend this book! It is also a vital piece of feminist writing.
